Pastor's Message

Dear Parishioners and friends,

Peace and blessings!

As we continue to move forward with our preparation for the campaign for the St. Joseph Center and Immaculata School, I think it is important for you to know that any and all capital campaign monies donated are used exclusively for the campaign and cannot be used for anything else. These monies can only be used by Immaculate Conception Church and not by the Diocese of Charlotte. That question has surfaced, and I just want to assure you where your money will go.

This weekend we thank all of our catechists working in all areas of Faith Formation. This Catechetical Sunday we will have a recommissioning at all Masses. Presently we have over 440 children in faith formation. Special thanks to Claudia Yepez, our Faith Formation Director and Emily Sevier, our Life Teen Director. We are happy that much of the new St. Joseph Center will be for their programs.

Lastly, thank you for the support you have shown the friars during this difficult time in the Church.

Have a blessed week.

In His peace,

Fr. Martin

Dear Parishioners and friends,

Peace and blessings!

On this Labor Day weekend, we take time to thank God for the many gifts and talents entrusted to us. We will have a special

Mass on Monday, September 3rd at 10:00. Reminder that with the Apple Festival, give yourself extra time for traffic and parking

As we continue to explore uses for St. Joseph Center, we have designated rooms for Faith Formation on the first floor and LifeTeen on the second floor. Since all the rooms have moveable walls, we will wait until those who are leasing space to more out to come up with the exact positioning of the programs. Many groups have already been meeting is the large conference room as well as two smaller rooms that are available. A couple of the staff will also move their offices over there. Again, all this we happen in the summer of 2019 when leases expire. Exciting times!

Next Saturday the friars will be in Charlotte for the Eucharistic Congress.

Have a blessed week.

In His peace,

Fr. Martin

Dear Parishioners and friends,

Peace and blessings!

First an update on the St. Joseph Center. Presently we have 18 offices being leased. This we end next year. In the meantime, as we continue to discuss what will be going on with the rooms, we will be collecting the rent, which should be about $100,000. This will help with the mortgage.

We are presently working on gathering names to work with our capital campaign for the St. Joseph Center. The past campaign will close this month, that is Forward in Faith, Hope and Love. We began this five years ago for the needs of the Diocese of Charlotte.

We are in need of ushers at some of the Masses, in particular the 5:00 on Saturday. Please see one of the ushers for more details. What a great feeling to give back to God for all he has given us. This position is open to men, women and teens.

Have a blessed week.

In His peace,

Dear Parishioners and friends,

Peace and blessings!

I received a beautiful thank you from Elizabeth Moss, the Executive Director of IAM. A few weeks back we had an appeal weekend and because of your generosity over $10,000 was collected. She said in her letter, “Thank you for providing hope to so many in great need.”

Still looking for a way to get involved? We are in need of ushers at some of the Masses, in particular the 5:00 on Saturday. Please see one of the ushers for more details. What a great feeling to give back to God for all he has given us. This position is open to men, women and teens.

Immaculata School will be opening this coming week. As always, please use extra caution around the school during school hours.

Lastly, I will be taking my summer visit to see my Mom and family this week. I’ll be back next week, God willing.

Have a blessed week.

In His peace,

Fr. Martin

Dear Parishioners and friends,

Peace and blessings!

Wednesday, August 15th is the feast of the Assumption of Mary, a holy day of obligation. Masses will be at 6:30 Vigil on the 14th and at 8:30 and 12:10 in English and 7:00pm in Spanish on the 15th.

It is difficult to pick up the paper or turn on the news and not see or hear of some kind of scandal going on. Seems we are surrounded by it. The Devil is having a field day with all this. At the same time, while all seems to focus on the negative, the positive seems to be pushed aside. We need to turn more of our focus on the good and positive things going on within the Church and the world and not give the Devil so much attention. Take a moment each day in thankful prayer for those doing good with little or no recognition. While the good outweighs the bad, the bad makes the news. Whoever you are, thanks for your encouraging notes to us. They are appreciated.

Have a blessed week.

In His peace,

Fr. Martin
