Purpose: Act in an advisory capacity to the pastor in determining the maintenance needs of existing buildings and grounds. Assist in developing short and long-term church campus capital projects.
Responsibilities: Conduct periodic meetings with Facilities ministers and staff to review parish needs and make recommendations to Finance Council and pastor.
Helpful Attributes: Experience with construction, maintenance and parish needs.
Time: Flexible – several hours a month reviewing parish conditions and needs and ministry meetings every other month of about two hours duration.
Grounds and Gardening:
Purpose: Develop and maintain the church grounds in order to provide a pleasant and neat environment.
Responsibilities: Weeding, watering and trimming of bushes. Some mulching and planting.
Helpful Attributes: Green thumb; autonomous but cooperative.
Time: Flexible. Each person usually takes care of his or her own assigned area.
Purpose: Provide parishioners a safe environment and reasonable access to the church building and protect church property.
Responsibilities: Open in time for activities every morning. Inspect and secure the premises after the last activity every evening.
Helpful Attributes: Be a practicing Catholic and member of the parish in good standing. Be reliable and punctual. Be flexible to accommodate reasonable use of the premises for authorized meetings and activities. Be able to handle unusual situations in a courteous, Christian manner while being faithful to our purpose.
Time: The morning team opens the main door to the church and the two doors to the chapel area in time for early arrivals for the 8:30am Mass on weekdays and the 7:30am Mass on Sundays. The evening team closes up at 9pm, but earlier on days when there are no evening activities. We try to have enough team members so that members are only assigned duty a few days each week.
