Definition and Responsibilities:
Just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, the Serving Ministry offers itself in holy sacrifice for the good of others. The Serving Ministry dedicates itself to preparing the heart of our parish that is Jesus-shaped. And as in that simple and mundane act of washing another’s feet, Jesus shows us how this becomes a deep and profound way to love. So to with the Serving Ministry. Their acts of love allow for a powerful connection within our parish home. By design, most of their efforts may go unnoticed, but these quiet acts of selfless love become the sacramental offering that is Jesus’ very life - the living embodiment of the outpouring of God’s grace on his people.
The Serving Ministry has two focal points – (1) Liturgical Service and (2) Parish Administration Service. And just as we see our Lord as the great high priest and sacrificial lamb, the Serving Ministry is responsible for the support and assistance within the heart and home of our Liturgical worship, namely the centrality of the Mass. The second Serving Ministry function, namely Parish Administration, is responsible for the day-to-day organizational affairs necessary in sustaining and perpetuating the Parish that our Lord has entrusted to us.
Great care is given in understanding the primary role of this ministry – it is to serve. Service that is unsung, cheerful and rejoicing - for their reward will be great.
